The Fremont County Historical Society and the Fremont County Heritage Commission are combining their efforts to sponsor a historical event in October.
We are inviting everyone to be ready to celebrate the Fossil Days, Historic walking tours, Florence events - including Chalk it UP, Penrose special events (after the Apple Day weekend), and every corner of the County from East to West will be showcasing their heritage buildings, people and events for the enjoyment and education of those who attend each of the events.
If you are interested in helping with this project, please contact the Royal Gorge Museum and History Center - BLM Offices - Park and Recreation - Historical Society (via this website and the contact information) - as well as fremontco.com, fremontfallfestival.com, and email@example.com
We want to hear from YOU>
If you will click on the link to the Fremont Heritage Page, you can access the Local Landmark Site Application that is now available. If you have a historical building or landscape, or if you know of one that would be eligible for designation as a Local Landmark, please fill out the application and return it to the Fremont County Administration Building, marked for the Heritage Commission. Thanks
THE COLLECTION OF DOCUMENTS AND ARTIFACTS THAT COMPRISE THE GENERAL RESOURCE IN THE ROYAL GORGE HISTORY CENTER WAS ORIGINALLY DONATED BY THE FREMONT/CUSTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY (NOW THE FREMONT COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY) IN EARLY 1993. THE HISTORY CENTER HAS SINCE EXPANDED INTO A VERY EXTENSIVE BASE OF DOCUMENTS NOW AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC FOR RESEARCH AND READING.
